UNA-SPAIN, ORIGIN AND GOALS
In 1962, and with its social headquarters in Barcelona, the United Nations Association of Spain was constituted, an NGO which has consultive status on the ECOSOC and has been declared entity of public utility. Its fundamental goals are:
• Divulge the principles and aims of the United Nations;
• Spread and support the task deveolped by this Organization and its specialised organisms (ILO, WFO, UNESCO, UNICEF, etc.) promoting the collaboration of the institutions and the civil society with; and
• Proclaim, spread and defense the Human Rights and fundamental freedoms.
The United Nations Association in Spain has been recognized by the UN as the only main link between the Organizations and civil society in Spain, acting as focal point of the United Nations Regional Information Centre in Brussels.
WHAT WE DO?
• Organise educative and sensibilization campaigns on human rights, courses, seminars, conferences, etc.
• Publish books on international relations, conflicts, human rights, formative material for schools, magazines, yearbooks, etc.
• Library and documentation service, on topics of the United Nations and specialised organisms
