alliance of civilizations

ANUE has shown its support and commitment with the Alliance of Civilizations initiative from the very first moment, as the acts and conferences developed by the Association reflects.
Before the first meeting of the High Level Group of the Alliance of Civilizations, UNA-Spain had a roundtable on the topic during the commemoration seminar of the 60º aniversary of the United Nations, held by the Association the 18th of October of 2005, which had the participation of Federico Mayor Zaragoza, copresident of the High Level Group, and Nafis Sadik, one of its members, as well as Bernardino León, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Secretary of State, and Rafael Dezcallar, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Director. Moreover, UNA-Spain has become pioneer introducing the simulation of an Ad Hoc Committee on the Alliance in the Catalonia Model United Nations (C'MUN), held on May of 2006. This experience had its follow-up with the organisation of the Euro-Mediterranian Forum of the Young Alliance of Civilizations held in October that year, and with the special meeting that the aforementioned C'MUN Committee on the Alliance held next to that Forum. Besides, with the Peace Prize, that UNA-Spain concedes since 1980, the Association went further in that direction, awarding the distinguised trajectory of Daniel Barenboim in front of the West-Eastern-Divan Orchestrah and the writer and philosopher Tahar Ben Jelloun.
